It highlights how various regimes, including those of Iran, Turkey, and Iraq, alongside groups like ISIS, have employed religious policies to legitimize violence against the Kurds, branding them as infidels to justify persecution. The article explores significant events, such as the Anfal and Yazidi genocides, and the de-Kurdification of regions like Afrin. It underscores the need to understand these dynamics in the broader context of Middle Eastern geopolitics.
