The panel is entitled "Hegemonic Masculinities and the Permanent Crisis of Patriarchy: Reflections on the Current Moment in Masculinity Studies". The panel will consist of: Anna Loutfi (Assistant Professor of Gender Studies), Marc Roscoe Loustau (Harvard U., Visiting Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Sociology & Social Anthropology), Frank G. Karioris (Doctoral Student in Gender Studies), and Miklos Hadas (Professor at Corvinus University). The panel will be chaired by Daniel Monterescu (Assistant Professor in Sociology & Social Anthropology). The presentations will reflect on the state of the art in masculinity studies and the research agenda of this scholarly field in relation to other disciplines (history, sociology, anthropology and religious studies). A variety of case-studies will address the paradoxes of patriarchy and the reproduction of hegemonic structures in different historical and cultural settings in the Middle East, Romania, Hungary and the US.
