Maria Rowena Briones

Rowena Briones is a sociologist working on the intersections of politics and culture, institutions and political cognition. Her doctoral research frames the drug campaign in the Philippines as illustrating the dynamics between punishment, welfare and populism. She hopes to contribute on rethinking the role of communities in facilitating and attenuating the effects of penal state on citizenship.
